Tools
Students have increasing access to personal devices for use in the classroom and in the field which provides opportunities for the use of digital tools in authentic inquiry. Such use also contributes to purposeful development in the following General Capabilities: Literacy, Numeracy and the Information and Communication Capability while studying Geography.
The NSW Geography K-10 Syllabus identifies 5 categories of Geographical Tools which students will use:
Maps; Fieldwork; Graphs and Statistics; Spatial Technologies and Visual Representations.
The Continuum of Learning (Tools) from K-10 demonstrates how students will gradually use more sophisticated tools and make more decisions about selecting the tools to be used for "representing, synthesising and communicating the findings of geographical inquiry". (NSW Geography Syllabus, p32)
